Most systems are designed in calm conditions. Whiteboards. Strategy sessions. Best-case assumptions.
That is not where systems are tested.
Real systems are tested when revenue dips, when volatility spikes, when a key person leaves, when assumptions fail. Pressure exposes whether structure exists or whether everyone was improvising.
A resilient system assumes failure is inevitable. It limits damage. It defines boundaries. It removes single points of failure.
In trading, this means predefined risk, hard stops, and rules that cannot be overridden. In business, it means clear ownership, redundancy, and decision rules that don’t change under stress.
Optimism builds fragile systems. Engineering builds durable ones.
The goal is not to avoid pressure. The goal is to be indifferent to it.
